BDG SUMMER KICKOFF MUSIC FEST

The BDG Summer Kickoff Music Fest is an annual event that provided financial support to community agencies that have a history and/or a passion to do something positive that benefits the well being of specific individuals or groups of interest in the community. Each year BDG selected the beneficiaries for this event that occurred annually from 1996 through 2009. Many of the organizations/beneficiaries were repeats as they had established a successful partnership with BDG. 2010 was the first year BDG did not produce and sponsor this event.

The 2009 BDG Summer Kickoff Music Fest; "Soul, Spirit, Showcase", "Gospelfestplosion" and "Thank GOD For Jazz" completed it's 14th year and 25th show as a part of this series at the Delaware Theatre Company. This event, BDG Summer Kickoff Michael Holloway Music Fest was in memory of the late great Michael Holloway who's life was tragically taken from him as well as BDG. Michael Holloway was very instrumental in the success of this event as he held the position of executive assistant to go along with his choreographical producer, praise and mime dancer positions with BDG.

There is a great history behind this series as the first event,"AIDS Benefit Jazz" occurred in August 1996. BDG has donated over $70,000 to more than 50 different organizations through this music and performing arts series. "AIDS Benefit Jazz", "Double Ax Jazz Jam", "Craig Kelly Memorial Jazz",
"Clifford Brown Jazz Fest Kickoff", "Silent No More", "Soul Spirit Showcase", "Gospelfestplosion", "Thank GOD For Jazz", that were all under the umbrella of the BDG Summer Kickoff Music Fest.

BDG has continued to be so very grateful to the Delaware Theatre for the splendid favor they provided over the course of 14 years. The Delaware Theatre Company was without a doubt the most ideal setting for such an event.

The 2008 BDG Summer Kickoff Music Fest was professionally recorded for a DVD series that captured the highlights of each individual show.
